Belphebe's Reviews:

If a Pajiban was to write Serenity fan fiction (and get it published.)

Long Way to a Small Angry Planet This is a rare Sci-Fi book indeed. A long way to small angry planet is written by a former staffer for the Marysue.com.  The book is unabashedly feminist, sex positive, inclusive and overall optimistic about the future.  It’s not heavy on plot but rather bounces from one small adventure to another resulting in character development but not much else.  The Wayfarer is a boring ship, it creates wormholes for faster space travel. The crew is tasked with opening […]

Afterlife with Archie Ah Archie.  I have never understood Archie’s refusal to choose between Betty or Veronica when the choice is so obviously Betty.  But then again, this love triangle has been selling millions of copies of rather stupid books in grocery stores around the world for over 50 years.  These teenage kids get into hijinks and run around Riverdale.  In the last couple of years though, it seems like the comics are trying to be more adult and strengthen their story lines.  They have […]

They Came to Baghdad Starting off the 2017 Cannonball with a book I have never read by one of my favorite authors. They Came to Baghdad is an Agatha Christie book but there are no delightful British spinsters or fussy Belgians on the case.  Instead this is the story of a young British woman who is failing spectacularly at being a career gal in London shortly after World War II.  She’s indifferent to typing and a confident spinner of half-truths and white lies. I don’t […]

What can I say about Miss Marple that hasn’t already been said a thousand times.  Never ignore the little old lady with the knitting needles.  After getting suckered punched in the gut recently by the Electoral College, my husband and I were looking for something soothing to watch on TV.  Since we are all caught up on the Great British Baking Show, we went for Murder She Wrote.  There is a lot going on in that show, more than I can unpack in this review. […]
