My earliest review, evar!! I usually only review things that evoke a strong response and I’ve never even made a quarter Cannonball. This year I’m going to try to write about every book I finish. This book was basic. It was free on Kindle (still is as of this writing, if you just haaaave to read a romance set on Coronado) (N.B. how the fuck y’all gonna afford any real estate out there?) Hannah Davis was jilted and wants to find out what tore her […]
The Original and Still Worst!!
This is a bad book. It’s got high adventure! It’s got a sci fi premise that holds up 105 years after it’s first publication! The first person narration is a bit old fashioned but it works! It’s also one of the most racist things I’ve ever read. One could try the old “It’s a product of its time!” Well, it’s time was hella racist too, so that’s not wrong. John Carter, a white, Virginian, Confederate, Civil War veteran, is unexplainedly transported to Mars while running […]
We are not all heroes

They are morally clear, they have self doubt which they work through, and they are generally good. In Clariel – which a lot of Nix fans didn’t like – we don’t get that. Clariel is a prequel to Sabriel – Nix’s first “Old Kingdom” book. It’s set a couple of hundred years in the past. Clariel […]

Now, I know what you’re thinking “Fyre, you know you HATE billionaire romances!” I know! So over done! But I love me some menage so I was willing to wade into these treacherous waters for a bargain price. I present my real time notes from this collection. This is a long review but, I hope, worth your while. Drilled by Opal Carew Already stilted dialog. I’ll come along. Gah. Show don’t tell. Stop using the word glided for everything. It’s a horrible word, it sounds […]
