I have so many THOUGHTS about this book that I am going to go the other route and only hit the highlights. I am already ten reviews behind and I’m not going to have time today to write them all, so I might honestly have to declare REVIEW AMNESTY and start fresh in the new year. (Although there are some books I really want to actually review.) Here are my thoughts in no particular order: This book was TOO LONG. 992 pages is about two […]
Spaceship pilot/dragon rider.
I had so much fun with this book. I’ve not really seen Brandon Sanderson go full sci-fi before. He did that novella, Snapshot, but that’s pretty much it. Everything else has been in the realms of epic fantasy, superheroes, and the more speculative end of fantastical fiction that doesn’t really have a scientific basis (i.e. Legion). But I wasn’t really worried because a lot of the same tools he uses for his fantasy books are also applicable to sci-fi. He’s a fantastic worldbuilding, an excellent plotter, […]

I’m really glad I read this series. It was fluffy and cute and didn’t have too much angst in it (although still a little too much for my tastes). But the first book really was the highlight. I felt the second one was too slight, and though this one had more weight to it (with Lara Jean facing graduation and moving on from everything she’s always known), it still wasn’t as satisfying as the simplicity and cuteness of the first book. Spoilers for the first two […]
Don’t let the cover mislead you. There are no grizzlies on the Appalachian Trail.
I added this book to my TBR the very first day I joined Goodreads in July 2008, so yes I do feel accomplished for finally having read it. And it was a good time! I was a bit worried based on a few reviews I’d read ahead of time that it would be dated, and it was a tiny bit (mostly in some jokes Bryson makes that read a little fatphobic to my 2018 eyes and ears, but would have been absolutely bog standard in […]
