Lately, I’ve been escaping into sci-fi, fantasy, and romance novels so often that I felt I needed a dose of reality. Vox might have been too much reality. Parts of it infuriated me so much that I had to put the book in the freezer down to allow my blood pressure to drop. So, not super relaxing, but it was good. Vox is told in the same vein as The Handmaid’s Tale, wherein our heroine is suffering through a grim dystopian future. Though there are […]
Chrono-Displaced Persons
I have never liked time travel. Episodes of science fiction TV that deal with it tend to give me a headache because I can’t wrap my mind around it and start thinking in circles. But I loved this book. It’s been around for a while and also had a movie based on it, but for those who don’t know, it’s about Henry and Clare. The Farm by Tom Rob Smith 3. A Delicate Touch (Stone Barrington #48) by Stuart Woods More delicious zombies vs. superheroes where we finally meet up with the military. And they wisely utilize Arkham Asylumishness. A son must decide whether his mother is being gaslit by his father or if her entire tale is a lie. Stuart Woods keeps being all Stuart Woodsy.
British crime novels with double-meaning in the titles are becoming my jam
I listen to a lot of audiobooks — I walk or run about 40 miles a week, plus I like to listen to audiobooks while cleaning or cooking instead of having the tv on. I alternate between two genres, usually. I prefer audiobooks when tackling dense non-fiction subjects, because I know I tend to skim if I’m reading such things in text form, and British crime novels — the accents alone are worth the download. The Breakdown, which refers not only to the broken down car […]
