Book Club Discussion Post: A Wrinkle in Time

February 23, 2018 by MsWas 15 Comments

Here we go, time to discuss A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle!  For many of you, this was a reread of a childhood book. For others, it was your first time delving into L’Engle’s worlds; but we’ve all heard the title over the years, and it’s been a bastion of Science Fiction since the sixties. Discussion Topics: A Wrinkle in Time

February 7, 2018 by MsWas 3 Comments

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle won the Newbery Medal and was runner-up for the Hans Christian Andersen Award among others. Here’s some food for thought as we get ready to discuss on February 23 and 24. Make sure to tag #CannonBookClub if you’re posting about the book, and please share the cover of your version!

I always get a smidge nervous reviewing short works and book club choices. This one is both. Exciting times friends! My immediate takeaway when I finished was that it may be too absurdist for me. But that doesn’t quite grasp the idea I was after. From my limited experience with Stoppard, he is always playing with words, playing with meaning, playing with intent, and has no problem (perhaps prefers) to have his characters speaking at cross purposes. What that does to a reader is leave […]
