Rebel

Bellweather Rhapsody

It’s like The Shining mixed with an episode of Glee, except set in the 1980s. There is a high school music competition at a hotel where a terrible event happened, and weird stuff happens again on the anniversary of the event. You can read my full, more comprehensive review here.

I had actually heard of these stories through Go Fug Yourself – they were discussing the fashions worn by the main character on the television show based on the books. This book is considered to be one of the first mystery and one of the first detective novels ever written. Wilkie Collins was a lawyer, and presented the story the same way that witnesses would present a case in court. Clever.
