Rick Riordan does his thing.

April 10, 2016 by narfna 4 Comments

I guess I don’t really have much to say about this book, except that it was exactly what I was expecting it to be, and that ended up being an okay thing. I have come to accept that Riordan is now a one-trick pony. He just happens to be very good at that one trick. You pretty much know all the beats of this story ahead of time if you’ve read his other demigod books, but that doesn’t stop you from enjoying yourself anyway, and […]

Oh, man. I love that these comics exist, and are an official continuation of the story. Avatar: The Last Airbender is my comfort food. I watch it when I’m sick and it’s so happy and lovely and colorful. And look, I know it’s a kid’s show, but UGH IT’S SO GOOD. I also love Legend of Korra, and am super looking forward to the comics continuation of that show that’s supposed to be coming out soon. With all that said, this wasn’t my favorite of these […]

Nita is our main character. She’s a twelve year old girl living in New York. She’s a bit nerdy (her favorite possession is a space pen her uncle gave to her that can write on anything) and she’s having trouble with a bully in her class at school. When […]

A book where the magical orphan does bad things, makes bad choices.

Like many people in the early 2000s who found themselves clasped in the claws of fierce Pottermania, I was fond of trolling the internet for Potter related stuff. Somewhere, on some website (probably Mugglenet), some industrious soul listed a bunch of books to read while waiting for the next book to come out. This series made the list. I added it to my Amazon wishlist pronto, because that’s how I kept track of books I wanted to read before Goodreads was a thing. And then […]
