Right, so this series and I are definitely not getting along. I’m still going to finish it because everything I said in my review of the last book, and also a little adversity every now and then has got to be good for something, even if that something is an exercise in perseverance and willpower. The Time of Contempt is more of what I didn’t like about Blood of Elves: a bunch of talky-talky from set-dressing characters and, generally, an experience that rips off the […]
Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time.
First, a confession. I have drunk the Wheel of Time Kool-Aid. I know this because when I started reading this book, I began thinking of an eventual re-read of the whole series. To say I was surprised by this desire is a bit of an understatement. I kind of don’t even know where to begin with this review. I’ve started half a dozen paragraphs while sitting here, and then deleted them all. Like, who wants to be the jerk who thinks one of their favorite authors took up another author’s life’s work and then did it better? But . . . UGH, I do think that! I do. I don’t think it’s any secret that I’ve had issues pretty much the whole way through the first eleven books of this series. […]
