I learned of this series in a comment from emmalita and I’m very grateful! I TORE through Volumes 1-5 last year, trading volumes with my best reading buddy. It’s the last time I remember staying up until 2am to read. This is my first time reading a graphic novel series, and I’m still blown away by the art and the ability to convey so much story in each frame. I reviewed Volume 5 before diving in, which was a good idea after a long break. […]
Now I know what male dragons get up to when they’re alone
Saga. What does one say about Saga? It’s a force of nature. Impossibly grand in scope while remaining completely character driven. And while there are arguably two (and a half) main characters — Alana, Marko, and toddler Hazel — the secondary players are just as well-developed, sympathetic, and alive as the mains. It’s the type of story that gives you this disgustingly adorable anthropomorphic baby seal character, right out of […]
Just Rub Salt in the Wounds Next Time, Guys, It Would Hurt Less
If you thought Saga was a dark and heartbreaking comic before, you may just want to stop at Volume 4. Usually, after finishing a volume of Saga, I like to leaf through the pages again and relive my favorite scenes. This one left me needing a hug and kitten gifs. So, obligatory spoiler warning. Seriously, there will be spoilers. So don’t complain if something gets spoiled here. You would think, after the cliffhanger in the last volume, that the eventual reuniting of Marko and Alana […]
Epically epic epicness and more words that also mean epic.
Turns out I didn’t wait long enough to start this series. I have fast run out of Saga and that is a tragedy. When is the next book? Siiiiigh. (Reminder to self for next time starting a Brian K. Vaughan series: the “long enough” time to wait to start a series of his is “when it’s already finished”.) Slight spoilers to follow. More than any other book in this series so far, I feel like Volume 5 really hit home for me why this series […]
