Could Have Been Better

January 18, 2015 by ASKReviews 1 Comment

This is the third of Dr. Gawande’s books I’ve read and reviewed for Cannonball Read, and it’s probably my least favorite. However, it’s still a decent book that I’m glad I read. The book is ostensible about ‘how success is achieved in this complex and risk-filled profession,’ talking about medicine. And there are certainly many really compelling stories about medicine. August 14, 2014 by elecamel Leave a Comment

The Body Book by Cameron Diaz was the latest selection from my book club; so recent in fact, we haven’t even met yet to discuss it. This book had been on my list of books to read (love you Amazon wish list) and was glad to have the opportunity to pick the book up. Feng shui must be big in the British Isles, because three out of five of these books on this list were written by Brits. I’m not sure if that means anything, but it is interesting that most of the books that I am picking up to research the subject turn out to be […]

You’ll never take your sanity for granted again

March 21, 2014 by genericwhitegirl 1 Comment

Many thanks to Rachel. S., whose review inspired me to read this book. I saw a neurologist once. I was feeling increasingly confused, forgetful, and mentally disheveled. I would find myself driving on the freeway and suddenly not know where I was or where I was going. I would walk into a co-worker’s office only to forget why I was there. I’d read a book or watch a movie and not remember what it was about. The neurologist gave me a handful of tests, during […]
