The way audiobooks should be

April 8, 2017 by crystalclear 1 Comment

This is an awesome audiobook production!  Tamora Pierce, the author, reads the narration, but all of the characters have different actors who voice them.  And they do an awesome job!  (Honestly, Tamora Pierce sounds a little stodgy, like she’s reading to a child, and you can tell she’s very deliberate with her words and annunciation.  But hey, she’s not a voice actor, and it creates a noticeable difference between the narration and the actors.  I received this book for Christmas from my mom; she went to the local bookstore and just happened to pick something that I would love without me providing a detailed list of titles and authors.  A Christmas miracle! :) In this book, our magical hero Kell lives in London at a time where different worlds are layered on top of each other. I picked this up because it appeared to be a YA book with a The Night Circus feel, and I liked that book, so why not?  The premise is kind of similar.  There is a traveling extraordinary circus show that performs once a year.  The audience can either participate or watch, but the participants are playing a giant game to win a prize. This year’s prize just happens to be a wish.     Scarlett Dragna has always wanted to see the mysterious Caraval, encouraged […]

Double-crossing demons is dangerous

March 25, 2017 by Malin Leave a Comment

4.5 stars This is book three in a series. This review will contain spoilers for previous books in the series, so if you mind that sort of thing, skip this, and start at the beginning, with Dead Witch Walking. Never one to live a quiet life, Rachel Morgan, independent witch for hire is in trouble. She successfully took down the master vampire who was summoning demons to murder leyline witches and lived to tell the tale. She had to bargain with a demon in order […]
