Late to the party with this review of a fun book involving mythological bestiality, among other delights.

June 9, 2017 by narfna 2 Comments

Norse mythology is so weird, guys. I mean, all mythology is weird, it’s just, I can’t get over Loki seducing that horse. This was a really fun audiobook. Gaiman reads it himself, which I always enjoy. I know some people don’t like his cadence, but it works for me. Especially when he gets all cheeky with his words and his tone of voice matches it. And it’s such a fast listen, only clocking in at six and a half hours. I’d imagine the hard copy […]

I read this book, too

I’m not even going to pretend that I was well-versed with Norse mythology before reading this. Sure, I have heard of Odin, Thor, and Loki. I’ve also read series that pay major homage, and I’ve listened to this song, I mean, a lot: But I probably could not recite the basic story of 99% of what was in this book, before reading this book. I’m already pretty familiar with the Norse gods thanks to an early obsession with different mythologies, but you don’t pass up an opportunity to read Neil Gaiman’s take on them. Especially if you happen to be in a book shop and see a copy and remember that your boyfriend never bought you a copy despite the number of colossal hints you’ve already dropped. Anyway… Norse Mythology is a short trip through the stories of the gods – I read it all in one lazy morning […]

Norse Gods Doing Norse God-like Things

February 28, 2017 by Beth Ellen 2 Comments

After finishing up two audiobooks that I already know are contenders for best of the year I needed a change of pace. Something relaxing, that wouldn’t attempt to compare to the last two. Enter Mr. Gaiman reading his new collection of Norse Mythology. It was exactly what I needed. Mr. Gaiman starts with the Norse creation myth, and from there spreads out picking and choosing to tell fun and interesting tales involving Odin, Thor, and Loki most of the time. There’s the usual cast of characters […]
