We Are Family, I Got All My Sisters With Me

January 18, 2017 by pluiedenovembre 5 Comments

I love Nadiya Hussain. If you are a fan of The Great British Bake Off, you probably love her too. Nadiya was the winner in 2015, and she is, by all accounts the most popular winner in the history of the show. Charming, warm, funny, self-deprecating and gifted with a marvelously expressive face, she made all of us fall in love with her. Since winning TGBBO, Nadiya has published a cookbook (which I received as a surprise present last week from a lovely friend who […]

Let’s get one thing out of the way before we review this book. This novel was adapted into a perfect movie. A perfect movie staring the inimitable Paul Newman. No, not that Paul Newman. He’s a few years older. Nope, keep going. Pretty close. But less huggable. More irascible. A Paul Newman who’s been through the ringer a few times. LPS finds the heart of what small town life is like, especially small town life in Texas.  McMurtry probably sounds familiar, even to a casual reader. He wrote Lonesome Dove. That book, his most famous, was supposed to be his subversion of the western. Somehow, it became one of the most iconic westerns. I don’t think McMurtry ever quite […]

For the ones who like books and believe in true love.

Just, so, damn, quaint. I really needed a book. A happy book. A quick book. The kind where you know they’ll kiss at the end and everything is all better. And I discovered this book through this really great review, seriously I’m not even going to try and top that. Click the link to read a great review. Keep reading here to find my random ramblings about the book. This is a book you make tea for. And you settle down with no great expectations. […]
