Fake boobs are weird, ya’ll.

March 25, 2015 by scootsa1000 2 Comments

I never think of listening to audiobooks. I don’t know why. I should totally listen to more audiobooks. I spend enough time in the car, shuttling kids back and forth, driving to Target 9 million times a week, and doing all sorts of other errands. When I requested Yes, Please from my library, I didn’t even notice that I had clicked on the audiobook version — not the regular hardcopy book — to add to my hold queue. But hey, I’m glad I did. Otherwise, […]

I waited over 3 months for this book to become available, the wait was TOTALLY worth it

I feel like I should write a long and in depth review of how and why Amy Poehler’s Yes Please worked so well for me. But, I don’t know that I know how to do that. I’ve seen mostly positive reviews of the book and I agree that it’s my second favorite autobiography by a comedian, coming in right behind Craig Ferguson’s American on Purpose. The millionth review of this book (which is wonderful).

I think it’s probably impossible to read Amy Poehler’s book without comparing it, subconsciously at the very least, with Tina Fey’s Bossypants (and possibly Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?). Bossypants was certainly on my mind, not just because when I think of Amy Poehler, Tina Fey isn’t far behind (and vice versa), but also because both women (and Mindy Kaling) are associated in my mind with being funny on Thursday night NBC sitcoms. They’ve also all three got that ethos about them. The […]
