Jen K's Reviews:

Surprisingly, This is Not for the “Book is Better” Square

August 1, 2018 by Jen K 4 Comments

Bingo Square: Home, Something, Home I started watching the movie adaptation of this on a recent plane trip, and only realized once I was further into it, that Love, Simon was based on the novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, an often reviewed novel on Cannonball Read. My main motivation for starting the movie is that I quite liked the lead actor in Everything, Everything (I like that both the lead actors in that movie are basically working their way through YA film adaptions […]

I don’t think I really have anything to say about this one that hasn’t been said already – yes, Lucy Parker consistently writes very good contemporary romances.  This one was good but not quite as engaging/addictive as her previous novels.  I think she chose a heavier subject for this one, and it reflected in the novel. I listened to this one on Audible – figured it’s the kind of story I’m usually interested in but also am more hesitant to pick up nowadays because the genre does sometimes blend together so it seemed like the perfect selection for, “damn, how did I end up with so many Audible credits, I have no idea what I want!” The novel begins in 1947 with nineteen-year-old Charlie on her way to Switzerland for a procedure to take care of “her little problem.” The last […]
