Lisa Bee's Reviews:

Being 16 is a Lot to Deal With Sometimes

November 16, 2018 by Lisa Bee 1 Comment

I became interested in reading Skim by the Tamaki cousins after seeing ElCicco’s review this past summer. And what a great recommendation it turned out to be! A quick one, too, as I finished it in just one sitting. This graphic novel is very introspective, coming through via the voice of the protagonist’s diary, and I could see it being a great read for both teens and adults. However, this led me to watching a LOT of Dan Stevens content in the months that followed. This has nothing to do with this novel, except for the fact that upon referencing some info for my review, I find that there was a miniseries adaptation of the book […]

The 2nd Book in a Row for Me That Just Feels Overwhelmingly Lonely

October 24, 2018 by Lisa Bee Leave a Comment

This is a tough one… the characterization of the protagonist in this novel is absolutely fascinating, yet I don’t know that the book as a whole worked for me. Such a specific tone was slowly developed throughout the first 2/3 of the story, easing along gentle to the inevitable conclusion, which then came about so quickly that I felt like there had to be more. Eileen is named after it’s protagonist, Eileen, as she recounts the story of how she disappeared from her small hometown […]
