Third CBR9 Donation to the American Cancer Society

November 17, 2017 by MsWas 2 Comments

I’m happy to announce our third CBR9 donation to  The American Cancer Society for Cannonball Read 9, in the amount of $100! Thanks to another generous donor, all donations through today were matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000. So our donation really counted for $200! That brings our total for the year so far to $500. Find out what else you can do to help our mission to fight cancer.

She also penned the book that’s the basis of the musical Showboat and two books made in to successful movies, Giant and Cimarron. However, very few modern readers know her name. All of her stories deal with racial tension and gender bias, topics rarely addressed so openly in her day but certainly […]

Quick Questions with a Cannonballer: Caitlin_D

October 6, 2017 by MsWas 17 Comments

How many times have you participated in CBR? Has it changed the way you read? This is my fourth round of CBR. I started with CBR6 at my sister, badkittyuno’s, suggestion. I didn’t take it terribly seriously. I read about the same as I would have every other year only now I would write reviews for what I read. Then last year I made the mistake of requesting the audio version of a book when placing a hold at the library instead of the hard […]
