This is book 2 in the Brooklyn Bruisers series, and coming right out of the gate I enjoyed it way more than book 1. If you’re already a Sarina Bowen fan this book will not disappoint you. If you aren’t familiar with Bowen’s work, this is actually a pretty decent one to start with. This book stands on its own and you do not need to read the series in order. This is Patrick O’Doul’s story. He is the Bruisers ‘enforcer’ and a veteran of […]
A sweet novella with one of my favorite heros
Blonde Date (2014) is a sweet novella by Sarina Bowen. Bowen uses the Ivy League setting and characters we already met in The Year We Hid Away. The romance is between Katie, one of Scarlet’s roommates, and Andy, the guy who lives in the dorm room next door to Bridger. When Katie is looking for a nice guy to bring to a sorority party, Scarlet sets her up with Andy. The novella is set up in chapters with the alternating perspectives of Katie and Andy. Andy […]
Solid, Mediocre Sports Romance
This is the first book in the Brooklyn Bruisers series, and came out Fall 2016. Bowen has stuck with hockey, but moved on to the NHL from college stories. I never finished the Ivy Years series, but apparently this hero is the older brother of the hero in The Fifteenth Minute (which I will NEVER read based on the reviews and BethEllen’s warnings). Georgia Worthington is the interim PR head for the Brooklyn Bruisers, an NHL team. On the same day that it is announced […]
Not as good as the hockey books
I’ve enjoyed Sarina Bowen’s romance stories with hockey-playing college students. I was able to get Coming in From the Cold (2014) for free from Amazon, so even though I’d heard it wasn’t as good, I knew I still wanted to read it. Also, I was going on a short camping trip in November, and I needed something to pass the time during the cold, dark nights. Although I was already reading a book by Cormac McCarthy, I figured I’d much prefer to read something a little […]
