It’s probably not ever a good idea to go into a book thinking it’s going to be the best book ever. You’re only setting yourself up for disappointment. I try really hard to just let new books take me where they want and not bring my own preconceptions into it. (This is, of course, almost impossible to do.)

And actually, this is Green’s latest book. His first was Looking For Alaska, which I liked, but which is also very much a first novel.

I try to do the same, but this book was suggested to me by a lot of friends who rated it quite highly. Though the ‘best book ever’ part is just an exaggeration, I did have high expectations from this book, I think I wanted something more than a run-of-the-mill predictable romance.

I look forward to reading Looking for Alaska. Sorry about the misunderstanding regarding his first book. I should have done my research. Thanks for reading the review!
