I’m reading all of them, from 1st published to most recent. I’m just having to force myself to pick up the “Phoenix” ones by Marshak and Culbreath. I know it’s gonna hurt.

Oh, Spock Messiah, one of the first books to give me the uncomfortable pants. Now being 40-ish (shit), I now realize that Cogswell & Spano never progressed past the emotional age of 15.
When I was 13-14, my visions of Ensign George threatened to make me go blind. Even though she had even less character than Heinlein’s entire female cast. So I obviously went through a very suggestive and sheltered stage in my adolescence.
I got very bored, very quickly with the Phoenix books at age 11 or 12 and had no idea what I was reading, so I quit. It was such a strong negative reaction I never bothered again until I was 17 or 18. By then, yeah, I got it.

Sheltered? Did you read the Marshak and Culbreath “Phoenix” books? I didn’t even understand what I was reading at the time.
