Jr. Cannonballer Ewandini’s CBR 6 Review #1

February 5, 2014 by Ewandini 6 Comments

Ewandini is 8 years old. His mother, Mrs. Julien, asked him questions and he answered them to write the review:

I read The Phantom Tollbooth because my mum said it was supposed be a good book. The story is about a boy named Milo and this weird tollbooth appears in his room and then he gets whisked away into the land of Expectations. Then he goes on an epic quest and fights demons to rescue Rhyme and Reason.

The main characters are a boy named Milo, a watchdog named Tock, and some weird bug thing named The Humbug.

I liked it because it had a different type of funny. Usually funny is straight like they tell a joke flat out. It’s one time, straight joke. But the jokes in this go over and over again. First it’s boring, then its just annoying, then it’s HYSTERICAL!

In the story, there is a place called Conclusions. If you do something without thinking you go straight there, but it’s very hard to come back because it’s a hundred miles each way.

I would definitely recommend this book to seven to seventy-four year olds.

YES! This is one of my favorite books, and has been for the last 25 years. I reread it every year.

Ewandini, you have excellent taste in books (and in parents). Thanks for a great review!

Welcome to Cannonball, Ewandini. Thank you for you review. Like, Sophia, I’m also in the right age group to read this book. You make it sound like a very interesting book, I shall add it to my reading list.
