Kill the Dead – Sandman Slim does zombies

 

Sandman Slim is back; this time with Zombies, Lucifer, Hollywood moguls, Men in Black and Brigitte – a Czech Porn Star Zombie hunter.

Second in the series;  if you didn’t read “Sandman Slim” – full stop – go get it, read it, come back and continue.

We start with Stark working as a monster hunter for hire. He may have returned from  “downtown” (Hell) and saved the world, but that was last week.  Now he is broke and reduced to working for the “Golden Vigil”,  a secretive “Men In Black” monster hunting outfit headed up by a rather pissed off Angel. Oh well, guy’s  gotta eat.

Fortunately, Lucifer blows into town to oversee his biopic (what else) and drafts Stark as his body guard. Stark dumps the Golden Vigil gig and the fun begins.

Hanging with the Prince of Darkness, smoking Maledictions, drinking Aqua Regia, partying with Hollywood moguls ( although Lucifer may be a bit out of his league with those guys) and then zombies start showing up.  Everywhere.   To handle the “high plains drifters” (zombies) – Stark soon teams up with Brigitte – the Czech Gypsy porn star zombie hunter, meets Mr Munnin and finds out some stuff about his family….but no spoilers here. Of course there is  a lot more going on than just a zombie outbreak – but that’s for the reader to find out!

All the fun characters  from the first book are back; alchemist Vidocq, talking head Kasabian, Candy the Jade, Allegra and bartender Carlos . We get new characters like Mr Munnin and Brigitte.  Back to Max Overdrive and the Bamboo House of Dolls, Donut Universe and more.

As snarky, kick-ass and irreverent as the first one.  Total wicked bad ass fun. LA Goth Noir with Zombies and Hellion hoodoo.
