Shambling to New Orleans

 

“Shambling into New Orleans with Zoe Norris”.   The second in a series – the first was the “Shambling Guide to New York” where our heroine Zoe discovered the secret world of the “Coterie”.  This hidden world is  made up of zombies, vampires, sprites, incubi, gods, goddesses, etc. who live among us “normals” without our noticing… much.

In the first book, Zoe finds herself  working for a publishing house run by  Phil the vampire. Being the only human employee has its challenges, but after some adventures with her Coterie co-workers, she manages to save the world (or at least New York) find out that she is a “City Talker” and collect a new boyfriend.

Three months later and Zoe is on the Ghost Train with her Coterie writing team en route to New Orleans to write the “Shambling Guide” for that city. New Orleans, with all its quirkiness and history is a prime Coterie tourist city.

But….the train is hijacked by Ghost Robbers, she meets a mysterious “City Talker” on the train who seems to know all together too much about her… and her boyfriend has grown distant (although to be fair he IS trying to not turn into a Zombie) …and one of the vampire members of the writing staff is really a jerk who wouldn’t mind seeing Zoe dead.

The team finally arrives in New Orleans where supernatural shenanigans keep getting in the way of their actually writing the guide book. At the same time, Zoe is finding out secrets about City Talkers and their disappearance….

A lively fun tale. Non stop action. Looking forward to the next one- which should be in London!
