There are probably a couple of things that you should know about me as you read this review: 1) I
watch Scandal without fail every week because of that insane chemistry between Kerry Washington and Tony Goldwyn. (Although it must be said that I’m definitely Team Jake. He may be an assassin, but I like Liv better when she’s with him. Fitz is such a dick.) Oh, wait. I’m supposed to be writing about Hate F*@k, not Scandal. This may require a new bottle of Rex Goliath. 2) *Name Redacted*, whom I’ve never actually met, is a kindred spirit of mine. I mean, WHY WOULDN’T YOU READ A BOOK WITH THE MOST RIDICULOUS TITLE EVER ASSIGNED? I would’ve been upset if she had read this and not shared.
Hate F*@k really does borrow heavily from Scandal – the girl is a member of a Washington power dynasty whose family is always using the services of the Horus Group to get them out of trouble. The guy is former special forces or SEAL or something, and is a partner in Horus Group. In this particular instance, the girl’s sister has been caught on tape giving VPOTUS a b.j., and a media circus has ensued. Guy/Girl have instant chemistry, want to fuck each other standing up against a wall, talk about how much they hate each other, go to the opera with different dates, and wind up fucking each other against a wall.
Since this is installment 1 of 3, it comes as no surprise to anyone when it ends on a cliffhanger. Out of 82 pages, probably 41 of them are sex scenes, so maybe the title is apt as well as an obvious attention getter. It’s not the worst thing ever. I mean, it doesn’t come close to the annoyance level of Kristen Ashley, but that may just be because it was so short. (I should probably note that it IS told in first person, so if this bothers you stay away.)
You are getting some strange comments, Katie. But deer bottom moldings are probably as relevant as anything else that could be mentioned in relation to your review. I look forward to your assessments of parts 2 and 3.
Oh, Emmalita… you have such faith in me. I’m not sure that I’ll be reviewing parts 2 and 3. I really don’t know what else there is to be said at this point. :)
(and I know nothing about the molding of deer…)
I’m not sure you have a choice at this point.
Questions: Are they good sex scenes at least? On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being Georgette Heyer and 10 being your favourite Lisa Kleypas and/or Tessa Dare scene and where J= Kresley Cole, how does this book rate?
More Kate Pearce or Emma Holly. It has as harder edge to it.
