I have never read a book like this before. There might be others like this, that combine two separate novels into one very large book, but none that have crossed my path. This book was ambitious, long, and ultimately successful. I’ve read Westerfeld’s Uglies series, and the first in theLeviathans, so I was hoping I would enjoy this story of an author and the book she writes, and boy did I.

Ooh, this sounds really interesting. I have yet to read any Scott Westerfeld, but keep reading reviews of his books. The fact that this seems to be a completely stand-alone book very much appeals to me, I shall add it to my TBR list.
It feels like there could be more, but if this is just a one-shot, then it was all wrapped up very neatly. As much as a reader (okay, me) might want to see the continuing adventures, I don’t think there’s a need to from a story telling point of view.
I really didn’t like Uglies very much, but this sounds so interesting. I’m going to have to give it a shot.
I can see how those might not be for everyone! They are a bit out there, and only get weirder as the series continues. Afterworlds is a really different type of book from Uglies, a different story, the characters are much more relatable I think. I hope you enjoy it if you end up reading it!
