More seediness in Neptune

March 19, 2015 by badkittyuno Leave a Comment

Mr. Kiss and Tell dives a bit more into the politics of Neptune, an always enjoyable seedy area to explore. Petra Landros has once again hired Veronica to investigate — this time, the alleged rape and beating of a girl who had stayed at the Neptune Grand. The victim claims an employee of the hotel committed the crime, and she’s suing to cover her medical costs. Landros wants to know if he did it (the accused skipped town), and Veronica wants to find out the truth (that’s what she does!). Of course, she drags Mac and Wallace (and Leo!) in on the case, gets herself into same danger, and solves it all! You may know that it’ll end well, but it’s always fun to see how.

In addition to the case, we get to see a lot more of the Logan and Veronica relationship in this one. Logan has come home on leave, and we see them trying to figure out where things stand before he has to head back out. As always, Logan (and Keith…) worry about Veronica’s safety, but we also see how worried Veronica gets about Logan flying jets in the Navy. It’s nice to see them trying to make it work.

Another nice change in Mr. Kiss and Tell is the addition of some narrative from Keith’s point of view. He was always one of my favorite characters, and it’s lovely to see things from his eyes. We know that he’s never wanted Veronica to follow in his PI footsteps, but we also see how proud he is of what she does.

I was lucky to read the first two in this series back to back (yay, ebooks from the library), but I guess now I’m stuck waiting anxiously for the third!
