Ok. I think this is one of those “it’s not you, it’s me” reviews, because John Scalzi is beloved by all and this book won a bunch of awards so I am obviously just missing something.

I am suddenly more thankful than ever that my great-great grandparents moved from Bohemia to America. Bathtub carp. No thanks.
Great review! I would expect old people to be cranky too, none of them like change, even the American ones.
I love this book (and the rest of the series) hard, but I can see where you’re coming from.
