I admit that I am so far behind the curve that the curve is a dot to me. Rather than whine on and on about how I didn’t know about this blog ( and subsequent book) by the fabulous and tal
ented and bracingly honest Ms Brosh, I’m just going tell any and everyone I know that they must read this book. Like right now. I’ll wait. It’s less than ten bucks on Amazon fer crimney’s sake. You spent more on that disappointing Liane Moriarty novel.
Every time I tried to determine my favorite story, I’d glide on
to the next one, which was my new favorite. Hilarious, heartbreaking, real and true. The inspired and deceptively simple artwork elicit emotions and feelings and belly laughs. Sometimes all on the same page. Within the same panel. Whether you’ve dealt with depression or had dogs or grew up a little strange, it doesn’t matter. You will find something to engage with in this book. And the production is gorgeous. So much color, real thick glossy pages, and a satisfying heft. Every bit of this treasure was planned and produced to perfection.
Do yourself a favor. Check this out. Get lost in it’s pages. Let yourself feel something, anything, everything. Simple dog would approve.
I love her book and her blog. Go forth and spread the word of the hyperbolic Brosh. CLEAN ALL THE THINGS!
Great review! I love Allie Brosh and Hyperbole and a Half. The husband and I gave the book as Christmas gifts for most of out friends, and I’ve lost count of how many people I’ve told to check out her blog. She writes one of the most true and heartfelt descriptions of suffering depression that I’ve come across.
I can’t believe the paperback is actually cheaper than the kindle version. It’s such a beautifully made book. Love that swamp creature cartoon at the top! Great review :)
