Leslie Knope’s Pawnee Goddesses are Alive and Well

December 27, 2015 by Quorren Leave a Comment

lumberjanes1 Adventure Time really quiet my cup of tea, but I can understand the appeal.  So I’m not really the target audience for Lumberjanes, but I still found it a delightful read.  (If a bit too short.)

The Lumberjanes are more than our average Girl Scout-esque summer camp.  They are kindred spirits with Leslie Knope’s Goddesses with a dash of Wednesday Addam’s Thanksgiving pageant.  They are also way cooler than I ever was or will be.  Our five main characters are from cabin Roanoke.  There is Ripley – the boisterous one with a sweet tooth, April – the stereotypical brainy one on the outside with hidden strength in her twig arms, Jo – the cooler older sister type and ringleader, Molly – the one that likes to play by the rules and could do with a bit more self-confidence, and Mal – the one that sometimes lets her anxieties get out of control.

There is something mysterious and weird afoot at the camp and Cabin Roanoke is going to get to the bottom of it, much to the dismay of their cabin leader, Jen.  There are magical animals, secret caves with booby traps, a golden bow and quiver.  Think Goonies with a double helping of whimsy.

While I said before that the Adventure Time-like absurdity and whimsy isn’t usually my bag, I am really interested in what these awesome Lumberjanes will get up to next.  What can I say?  They’re so cool!  And diverse!  And they are a group of girls going out having adventures!  It hits all my sweet spots.
