Lord Peter Wimsey book 10

I’ve been doing these all out of order. That’s the trouble when there are so many books in a series, and while I can justify spending $2-3 for each, spending more than that would be wasteful, at least on a Kindle. If I were buying a hardbound set or something, that would be different.

But, anyway. There’s a dangerous stairway at Pym’s Publicity (remember, this is the 1920s, and advertising is kind of a new thing), and one day Victor Dean falls down it. His replacement has an interesting name: Death Bredon. Funny coincidence that our detective’s full name is Lord Peter Death Bredon Wimsey. Yup, he’s gone undercover at the ad agency, at the request of the victim’s sister, who is sure he was murdered.

Lord Peter is his usual charming self, making friends, being an excellent copywriter, and investigating the possible murder. He gets involved in Dean’s social life, which involved running with a bad crowd. Because of who he is, Lord Peter has to go even further undercover with this gang.

Lord Peter puzzles it out, but not without a few bumps along the way. This book is another excellent example of those between the wars mystery that are so entertaining to me. Amazon recently had a deal on the rest of the series, so I’ll be working my way through the rest of them for CBR8.
