Bella was one of my favorite characters in earlier books, so I’m glad she got her own book. I feel like it’s rare to see such a sex-positive, confident, no apologies for being sexy kind of female character. Maybe I’m just reading the wrong books. It was great fun to see traditional romance tropes turned on their heads in The Shameless Hour.
Bella, manager of the men’s hockey team, likes to sleep around and she doesn’t really give a shit what anyone says about it. When she meets and hooks up with her virginal downstairs neighbor sparks fly, but said downstairs neighbor, Rafe, has a hard time dealing with their mind-blowing sex. Awkward, hot, soccer playing Rafe feels completely guilt stricken about his drunken hookup. Still, the two of them keep running into each other and slowly get pulled into each other’s worlds and are there for each other when they need it most.
It’s a sweet story, but there was a tad bit too much hand wringing for my taste. I felt like some of their problems could have just been solved with a little honestly. Still, definitely worth a read for the awesomeness of Bella and hotness of Rafe.
This will probably be my last book out of the series unless Bowen writes more. I’ve already read the description and reviews of The Fifteenth Minute and there’s no way I’m touching that book with a ten foot pole, much as I’ve loved Bowen’s other books.
I’m glad you’ve liked her books. I’ve re-read most of them a few times. It’s a shame about the last book though. I’m still trying to re-write the plot on that one.

You’re not reading the “wrong” books! Heroines like Bella are so sadly few and far between and every night before I go to bed I pray to Aphrodite that romance authors will take note that she exists and is wonderful and make more like her.
That’s too bad, I was kind of hoping I was reading the wrong books. I only dabble in romance when I get recs, so there was the possibility :/ Bella is such a breath of fresh air.
