As many of my reviews begin this way, it’s a bit repetitive, but honestly thank you yet again fellow CBRs for letting me know this book even existed. I read the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn a few years ago thanks to recommendations on here (this was before I participated and just quietly lurked). I highly enjoyed them, so when I found out that Ms. Quinn had written second epilogues to all of her stories I immediately put on hold for some wonderful, light fun.
These quick little follow ups go in the order the stories were published from Daphne to Gregory, but jump around in time. Mostly Ms. Quinn seems to have used the opportunity to answer readers most pressing questions. What I found was that I didn’t really have these questions when reading the stories, but I’m a person who is totally okay with ambiguous endings and not needing everything wrapped up in a bow. In fact, I often prefer it, so these weren’t necessary for me.
But they were delightful. And refreshing. Ms. Quinn’s wit is some of the best in the romance game, and sometimes I just need to spend a couple of hours with nice characters smiling practically the whole way through. Nothing much particularly happens in these (each is ~40 pages), but that’s okay. Over the course of the original eight books you get to know the characters pretty well, so it’s nice to catch up with them like you’re having tea with them a few years later. There’s even a Violet novella explaining how she met her husband, and it again just makes me smile.
This is the equivalent of a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer’s day while lounging in a hammock. Wonderfully relaxing, not at all taxing, and perfect to take the edge off.
