Summary: Blue Sargent is the only non-psychic in a house of psychics. However, she has the ability to amplify her families’ abilities. Blue despises the boys who go to Aglionby, the male-only private school in the small town of Henrietta, Virginia. Her prejudice holds true until she meets a unique group of four boys, whom she comes to call The Raven Boys. Raven boys in tow, Blue becomes involved in the search for the long lost Welsh King Glendower and to wake the ley line that cuts through their small town.

I listened to the audiobook version of this and let me tell you right now that this is perhaps one of the creepiest books I’ve listened to. Will Patton does a beautiful job making the story even creepier! At first I didn’t think I’d like his voice, but it grew on me and now I can’t imagine anyone else narrating this series. His range of voices was impressive, especially with all the strange ghost happenings and other weird events.

I think my favorite character in this book was Adam. Adam is the scholarship kid at the rich kid prep school. He has to work twice as hard for everything and isn’t handed anything, not to mention the fact that he has to return to his run down trailer park home every night. He was so sweet and he reminded me of myself. I’m not rich by a long shot and thinking about all the debt I’ll have after college and grad school is spine-chilling. Adam was also an inherently good character, especially after seeing how he deals with the trauma of his home life. His father is the worst; I hate Robert Parrish a lot.

I loved Adam and Blue’s tenuous romance, they were cute and I think they understood each other in terms of financial struggles and how they wanted more from life. I’d be down with this working out; I like them so far. But what about the prophecy!! I don’t want Blue to kill her true love, she deserves to be happy and cute with someone. I am sad about that the most I think.

The plot in this book was very interesting, but slow at times. The way the team goes about finding Glendower and unraveling the clues about the ley line is awesome. What better way than to ask the girl with a family of psychics. The gang uses all of Blue’s family’s unique abilities at some point or even in combination to decipher various clues. When they find out that a murderer from the past is coming back to awaken the ley line, the race to be first becomes dire. I’m excited to see the new adventures that will come out of this and the ending of this story! I can’t wait to see more of the raven gang in Dream Thieves!

I’d recommend this book to people who enjoy suspenseful and mysterious books. If you were a fan of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, check this book out next, it won’t disappoint!
