I think I’m actually on Fire because of the slow burn and RHYSAND

June 8, 2016 by Andrea Krieter Leave a Comment

Rating: 5/5

Summary: After the trials of Under the Mountain, Feyre is trying to accept her new reality. She is haunted by her deeds, haunted by Amarantha and dreading the time when Rhysand will call in her bargain. Tamlin has been changed by the events too and only wants to protect Feyre from harm, but she begins drowning in his protective smothering.

Cauldron this book! My heart! I just need to like fangirl a little bit and try to form coherent and intelligent thoughts about this book, but I basically want to scream my head off. It was phenomenal! I want to give it 7 out of 5 stars. So amazing! To quote Christine of polandbananabooks “There are no teams, ONLY RHYSAND!”

So the books starts out a little slow and lazy, but that’s Feyre’s mindset. She’s trying to cope and does so by becoming numb and unaware of her surroundings. Her nightmares cause her to throw up every night and her body is wasting away. After she joins forces with Rhysand, the plot picks up and we find that war is brewing and it will be bringing the King of Hybern to Prythian.

This book has a whole new cast of characters, plus all the old ones you loved (yes Mr. Suriel I’m talking to you). We also find out more about Rhys and his motives. He’s still a shameless flirt and it’s so beautiful and I love my smol, precious baby. I’m trying to avoid spoilers, but the temptation is very high.

This book explores how people can learn to accept their own deeds, however bad they may be. It also shows that believing in yourself and strength is critical to facing those demons. The world of Prythian opens up beyond the Spring Court and I hope SJM includes more courts in ACOTAR 3 because I want to see them all!

Overall this was a fantastic sequel and I can’t wait to see how she’ll top it with the third one. May 2017 can’t come fast enough. Cries and goes to find fanfic…
