It was okay? That’s all I got.

This was the other half of my Liane Moriarty pickup from the audible 2 for 1 sale. As previously stated I have quite enjoyed Ms. Moriarty’s later works so I was happy to delve into her back catalogue.

This time we have the story of the Kettle triplets: Lynn, Kat, and Gemma. Their lives are completely intertwined. We learn at the start that by the end of the story one sister is pregnant, and another is crazy enough to throw a fondue fork at her. The story goes back from there, telling how we get to this point and introducing a whole cast of characters on the side.

It was okay. Again, like The Last Anniversary, I did not find any of the main characters particularly likable. It’s hard to root for characters when the best way I can describe most is “eh”. Although I will say with this one there were at least enough development and change in the three girls that the ending was satisfying as they had all grown up in some way. Also the characters felt more rounded out by the end, especially the sisters, who all started as a one dimensional stereotype: the hippy dippy one, the b*tchy one, and the control freak.

Overall, as said above it was fine. I’ve been listening to it on my commute, and was interested enough to see where the story was going to finish it. It was not life changing, and I won’t be a recommended one from Ms. Moriarty’s library, but it was enough to keep me from getting frustrated in traffic. Sometimes, that’s enough.
