Summary: It’s been five years since the Dark War wrecked the Shadowhunter world. Since then Emma Carstairs has been training and plotting her revenge for her parents’ murders. When bodies start turning up with similar markings as her parents, Emma is determined to find answers. A faerie convoy comes and begs the Shadowhunters of the LA Institute to solve them since faeries are being murdered and in exchange they offer the Blackthorns their brother Mark. If they can solve the murders, Mark can choose whether he wants to stay with his family or rejoin the Wild Hunt.

Holy freaking shit!!!! This book KILLED ME. I’M ACTUALLY DEAD, LOOK AT MY HEART OVER THERE CASS CLARE LOOK AT IT. I’m still thinking about that ending and I just freaking can’t! Why did you do that??? This is so much worse than when we thought Clary & Jace were siblings, so much worse…

Okay, so the plot of this book was freaking marvelous. I loved the Poe poem tie in and I thought everything was so well thought out. I loved CoHF, and this blows it out of the water completely! It does start off a little slowly, but my interest was held because of Emma. Once the Shadowhunters start investigating the murders, the plot solidly moves along.

Emma is my favorite Shadowhunter ever. She might even tie with Magnus for my favorite character. I love her rebelliousness and how headstrong she is. She reminds me way too much of myself. She is also fiercely independent and would rather cause herself pain than let any of her friends/family get hurt. Her friendship with Cristina was really nice and gave her someone else to talk to besides Julian. I liked that throughout the book the girls grew to depend on each other more.

I can’t write anything more or I’m going to breakdown and cry oceans of tears. Seriously, trust me that this is amazing and just go read it!
