“Raising kids may be a thankless job with ridiculous hours, but at least the pay sucks.”

September 13, 2016 by badkittyuno 1 Comment

Caitlin_D recently reviewed this one, too — also fairly positively. I am a parent of two small, very loud boys (so, so loud). She doesn’t have kids (…yet) although she spends a lot of time with my boys and her sister-in-laws’ kids. My point is, you probably don’t need to be a parent to find Jim Gaffigan at least a little funny.

“Every night before I get my one hour of sleep, I have the same thought: “Well, that’s a wrap on another day of acting like I know what I’m doing.” I wish I were exaggerating, but I’m not. Most of the time, I feel entirely unqualified to be a parent. I call these times being awake.”

Jim Gaffigan is raising 5 children in a 2 bedroom apartment in New York City, because he is a crazy person. He spends most of this funny collection of stories (most are only a page or two long) describing in detail exactly how crazy he is. He also talks about how much he loves these people in his house, especially how much he obviously values his wife.

It’s a lot of clean humor about parenting — no different than you’d see on just about any Mommy or Daddy blog. Nothing groundbreaking, but still a nice diversion at the end of the day. And since each story is so short, you can almost finish a whole chapter before getting interrupted by your kids!

My favorite part is the story in the beginning with the car and the sleeping baby.
