I enjoyed this book immensely but I have some issues with the style and also with the ending. Still, I heartily recommend it if you want a light, fun read that tells a story from a point of view many of us are not familiar with: a thirty something Muslim woman who is devout and modern at the same time.
Sofia Khan works in publishing. She’s newly single and her sister is getting married. Her parents worry that she will never find a husband and don’t understand why she dumped her boyfriend (he wanted them to live with his parents, she didn’t agree). Sofia doesn’t want to date but after a meeting at work, she ends up with a contract to write a book about Muslim dating. So she signs up for an online dating service. For research.

The ending was so *groan*! On the one hand, the characterization of Sofia demanded it. She was never going to find her HEA with someone (redacted). But the work wasn’t put in to make it a natural choice for (redacted). It’s hand-waved in the most jarring way.
Still going to read the sequel.
I was super happy for Sofia and everything but ugh… that whole thing could have been handled better.
