The story is essentially about…I’m not sure.

It sounds a lot like the plot to a Jayne Ann Krentz novel from the 90’s, Perfect Partners. I’m sure it’s horribly dated now. https://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Partners-Jayne-Ann-Krentz/dp/0671728555/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487809505&sr=8-1&keywords=Perfect+partners+Jayne+Ann+krentz
Wow! The synopsis of Perfect Partners makes Love Handles eerily similar. though from the sample I read, Perfect Partners is the better romance novel with more likable characters.
As an aside: I am amazed that readers of romances can keep track of titles and plot elements in order to reference them as you did. Though I imbibed romances in my younger days, Jayne Ann Krentz/Amanda Quick being staples of my consumption, I cannot recall whether I read this one or not. I most likely did, but for the life of me, other than the handful of romances that are favorites, I remember nothing of the other titles I’ve read. How do you keep track of them all?!
I remember tremendous amounts of useless information. My brain is like a card catalogue. I did have to look up the title, but I remember that book in part because there is a funny blow job scene. And because your synopsis of the Love Handles plot was almost exactly the plot of Perfect Partners
