Back to ZOMBIES! Yay!!

March 27, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

I loved this book. I really did. I just spent the last two and a half hours finishing it, because I couldn’t stop. I loved the characters. I loved the point of view. I loved the idea of the virus and where it came from.

Ok, enough praise. If you’ve ever read Mira Grant and liked her, I suspect this book is for you. I started out last year with her Parasitology trilogy. I liked them a lot, and I kept hearing about the Newsflesh series. I guess I just had other books on my list, because I kind of forgot about them. Now I have Feed, Rise, and Feedback from my library. I have to find Blackout somewhere.

So like all good zombie stories, this book is about people and relationships, good and evil. The zombies are just the backdrop. That’s how I prefer my zombie tales. Georgia and Shaun are twins and journalists. Well, bloggers really, but that’s real journalism in this future! Two decades earlier, the cure for the common cold mutated with a strain of Marburg used to fight cancer. It created the Rising. Lots of people survived and continued their lives, but just in The Walking Dead, the virus is in everyone, just waiting to wake up. You die, you reanimate. That’s the basic background to the interactions and evil deeds and political aspirations. There’s a presidential race, unlike any we’ve ever seen. There is terrorism, lots of bodies, and lots of heart. Let’s just say that I’m glad I finished this book at home, because I was a blubbering mess for like a half hour!

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
