“But then she hadn’t just learned to love this summer – she had also learned how to need.”

March 7, 2017 by badkittyuno Leave a Comment

Yes I’m still reading these sappy ass books.

“The word friends doesn’t seem to stretch big enough to describe how we feel about each other. We forget where one of us starts and the other one stops.”

So the second summer of The Sisterhood allows the girls to split up into their own four little storylines again, with intermittent mingling as time progresses. Bridget goes to Alabama to hunt down her grandmother. Carmen gets jealous because her mom has started dating. Tibby’s making a movie that starts out meanly comic about her mom and turns into something much more serious about Bailey. And Lena is still recovering from the whole Kostos thing.

My favorite storyline in this book was Bridget’s. It’s a little silly — she shows up at her grandmother’s house using a fake name and somehow insinuates herself into the old woman’s life by cleaning out her attic. Of course her grandmother knew who she was all along but that’s not really the point. Bridget really grows in this installment. She learns a lot about herself as well as her family.

As for the other stories…Carmen’s whole issue with her mother dating is a little obnoxious but I’ve never been a teenage girl with a single mother who’s dating so I can’t really pass judgement. Tibby trying to fit in with the asshole kids at film school resolves nicely when she realizes that she needs to go back to who she really is. And honestly, I’ve read Traveling Pants numbers three and four since I finished this one and I cannot even remember at what stage the Lena/Kostos storyline was at this point. Is this the one where he’s married and his wife is pregnant? Or is it the summer before? So yeah, that storyline didn’t stick with me too hard.
