It took 4 years for this book to come out — I can’t wait til the next one!!

March 29, 2017 by badkittyuno 1 Comment

Oh my God you guys how long am I going to have to wait for a sequel to this book? I am glad that I waited as long as I did to pick up Rook, but then I loved it and immediately read Stiletto and now I’m just sitting here. Spoilers for the first book!

“You’re a tool, to be used and directed for the good of the people. Sometimes you’ll be a scalpel, cutting out disease. Sometimes you’ll be a sword, and you’ll take on threats with all the strength you can muster. And sometimes, Odette, you’ll be a stiletto, a hidden weapon that slides quietly into the heart.”

So Stiletto keeps Myfawny Thomas around, but she’s more of a secondary character in this book. Stiletto focuses on the merging of The Checquy, and the Grafters, whom you might remember as the super bad guys from the first book. We follow around one particular Grafter, Odette, who is sort of the princess of her particular family. Pawn Clements (able to the history of an object just by touching it) has been assigned as her bodyguard since everyone, you know, hates the Grafters. Unfortunately for both the Grafters and the Checquy, there’s a third group — the Antagonists — trying to take EVERYONE out.

I just cannot stay at how much I love these books. They’re just so much fun! Yeah the plot is really cool, and I love all of the twists and turns and trying to figure out who we can trust and who we can’t. But what I love most of all are the throwaway lines, like, “a lad from the Estate whose tonsils had needed to come out and that now spent their time fluttering in the air around him and chirping cheerfully”. It’s just. so. fun.

I laughed that you said “now I’m just sitting here”. As if you haven’t read 81 other books this year already!
But I feel exactly the same way!
