I’m not fat, I’m a bigger breed.

Interlude! I Could Pee On This is a short book of poetry “written by cats.” I bought it for a friend in love with her cat, and it’s a delight.

I mean, it’s not life-altering at all. But it’s a solid laugh, and a quality diversion. It took me all of half an hour to read it cover to cover, so it feels like a bit of a cheat. But I read all the words, and I giggled my face off, and then when I gave it to my friend, she read a whole bunch of the poems out loud with me, and we laughed together some more.

So, mission accomplished, you fun book of comedy. It’s hard to make me smile these days, and your obvious punnery and commitment to stereotype truly helped brighten my day. That sounds like negging, but it’s not: there is a place in this world in which we’re allowed to put cats in a box (see what I did there?), and it’s a necessary place.

Apparently, there is a companion book from Francesco Marciuliano called I Could Chew On This, and I probably will not pick it up. My dog is a magnificent and unique animal with complicated and special emotions and a distinct personality, and I will find it incredibly offensive should you dare try to pigeonhole him. Or, in short, he’s a Very Good Boy, as are they all, and it’s probably an equally funny but predictable book, and I’d probably like it a lot.
