Love these girls. Love this series.

“Do you need to go somewhere and repeatedly fail the Bechdel test?”
“Yes I do.”

After a little bit of a weird slump with Vol. 3, I am back in love with this series.

Susan is fresh off her break-up with McGraw (she sees moustaches everywhere!), and tries to fill the hole with various activities and other men, and nothing is working. Esther has vowed not to come back to school after the Easter holidays after messing everything up all year and in general being a hot sexy mess. And Daisy is . . . still Daisy. They are friends, and it is beautiful.

Maybe it’s just because this volume focuses on the girls as they approach the end of their first year of university, and with that automatically come decisions and problems. Like, money? How does one get some? Housing for next year. Can it be found?

This series is such a nostalgia kick. I didn’t go to college in England (obvs), but it just captures that feeling of being young and on your own SO WELL. The friends you collect, the mistakes you make, the really dumb things you did, and the freedom that comes with being an adult, but not quite. How everything felt like an adventure, even if it was just a dumb trip down to the pub on a Saturday night. What it captures for me, while being extremely hilarious I might add, is that feeling of transition from being a kid to being grown. This age is such a transition time, of figuring things out and trying things on. Plus, the characters are still my fave. I love all of them so much. They are my children.

The only thing is, I still really miss the original art that was in the first two volumes. The new art is okay, but I LOVED the original.

Anyways, very much looking forward to Vol. 5 now, and the official end of their first year at University. Highly recommend this series if you’re looking for something really fun and fast to read.
