F-ing Viking

June 2, 2017 by Lane 3 Comments

Captain Archie Curtis was wounded in an act of possible sabotage. He goes to a country house party in an attempt to find the truth. He is not alone in spying on their host. The mysterious Daniel de Silva is also sneaking around.

Curtis is unsettled by his strong attraction to de Silva. He has always dallied with men, at school and in the army, but he never considered himself inverted, he just had his needs taken care of. He never wanted to kiss a man or put his mouth other places.

De Silva has faced the scorn of being obviously inverted, as well as being Jewish, a poet, lower class, and of immigrant parents. He does not expect to find a friend in golden boy, descendant of vikings, upper class gentleman Archie Curtis.

I love this story. I adore both men and their lovely mismatched dynamic. They find a surprising connection despite outward differences. They also learn to trust each other, but only after several embarrassing misunderstandings that made me laugh and cringe.  As always with KJ Charles, the chemistry is explosive, and the plot and world are well fleshed out.

If any one has recommendations of romance writers that do it anywhere near as well as KJ Charles I would love to hear them, my TBR romance shelf is sadly empty.

I’ll have to look this one up!

If you’re looking for something in the same vein as KJ Charles, you might enjoy Cat Sebastian’s books if you haven’t already done so. I’ve reviewed two here “The Soldier’s Scoundrel” and “The Lawrence Browne Affair” and really liked them both.

It’s time to start reading some KJ Charles. I tried one, but was put off by the relations therein, but everyone is endorsing him/her so enthusiastically I’m want to try again.
