I did it again – started a series at Book 3!!!

December 19, 2017 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

So if you read my review that I just posted (#58 – somehow I didn’t catch that this one was #57, leave me alone, it’s almost Christmas), you’ll know that I have a tendency to start series at number two or number three.  I don’t know why, I guess books just catch my eye, and I don’t know they’re series until it’s too late.  This one is book three in the DI Jackman and DS Evans series.  I found out this was a series when I started this review a few days ago.  These stories all take place somewhere in Great Britain, and the main characters are coppers (their word!).  I like all of the characters, so I’m now reading book one.  Hopefully I’ll finish it and get that review up before NYE!

So this story is interesting… One of the cops on the same team as DI Jackman and DS Evans is the lone survivor in a light plane crash.  He was heading to Amsterdam with his four best friends for a bachelor party (the Brits call it a stag do – I refuse to call it that).  The plane crashes, two of them die instantly, and the other two plus the main character survive.  Lemme check on his name… OK it’s Carter.  I literally just finished this book a few days ago, but his name escaped me!  So Carter makes it out of the plane, and then the door gets sucked closed behind him and his two remaining friends die horribly when the plane catches fire.  You find this out nearly immediately, so I’m not ruining anything.  Here comes the interesting part though – after he recovers and goes back to work, his four friends still show up regularly, along with a burning smell.  Carter realizes that they have unfinished business and sets out to make things right.  It’s not a ghost story, I promise!

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
