Alli Reviews “Heartburn”

I was looking for some suggestions on a new book to read and this was on a few list of “must reads” and it was available at the elibrary so I gave it a go. It was a fairly short book, which is one of the only good things I have to say about it.

I felt it was lacking depth, interesting characters or much of a plot. I mean, of course, the (semi-autobiographical) plot is: pregnant woman’s husband has an affair. But the rest fell fairly flat with me. Also, it is very dated, there are references to a pregnant woman getting drunk and some questionable terms referring to a woman having an affair with another woman.

I am sure that some people may love this book, but it really just didn’t work for me.
