Polish prosecutor Teodor solves murders and maybe also murders people?

Hey guys, guess what?  This is THE FINAL BOOK IN A SERIES!

“Why kfishgirl, that’s so unlike you to start a series in the middle or the end” you might say.

You would never say that, because it’s my favorite!  I think at least half of my reviews are on books that are in the middle of series.

If anyone was (obsessively) following my reviews as I went, they’d think there was something wrong with me.  What kind of person can’t figure out that a book is in a series???  This kind!

I grab a lot of random audiobooks from my library, and I read interesting (murdery) books from Kindle Unlimited.  Those trixy bastards don’t always have the series names in the titles!  I usually find out after I’m already hooked.

 

So anyway, Teodor Sazaki is a Polish prosecutor.  In the beginning he’s just kind of floating through his days.  He’s not all that sympathetic, or even very nice.  I”m not sure if something was lost in translation (from the original Polish), or if this was just how the author wanted Teo to be.  I actually didn’t like him for most of the book.  He gets stuck in this case where someone is basically vigilante-style murdering people around the small town he lives in.  A woman comes in to tell him about how her husband is abusing her, and he basically blows her off.  She ends up nearly dead, and Teo finds her clinging to life.  We never actually get closure on her story line though.

He does have a bit of a redemption arc near the end though.  I say “near the end”, because it’s not at the very end.  I’m not entirely sure what happened at the very end.  I’ll say this – I couldn’t stop reading this book (after I initially stopped reading it at the end of last year).  There were multiple nights where I stayed up late reading.  I think I just wanted to figure out wtf was happening though.  I’m still on the fence over whether or not I’m going to go back and read the first two books about this prosecutor.  We’ll seeeeeee.
