All he wants is an innocent client…

February 14, 2018 by kfishgirl Leave a Comment

I think I found this book in the Kindle Unlimited library randomly one day.  It looked good, so I downloaded it.  Who knows when that was.  Anyway, I finished it, and I liked it.  I’m already reading the second book in the series.  I ACTUALLY STARTED THIS SERIES ON THE FIRST BOOK!  That is truly an accomplishment for me.  Also, it looks like the entire series so far is on Kindle Unlimited.  This brings me joy.

Onto the story!  Joe Dillard has been a defense attorney for a decade.  He seems to be a good guy, and defending actual guilty people was starting to wear on him.  Near the beginning of this book, he talks about how a client he had just gotten acquitted walked into his office and told him that he had actually murdered the old woman he was on trial for killing.  It nearly broke Joe.  He was planning on retiring, and he was just hoping to have one innocent client before he left the profession.  A new client came his way after a grisly murder she was accused of.  (Sorry, that sentence was not good).  He talked to her and originally didn’t want to take the case, because he was trying to retire, but her friend convinced him to take it, and she paid him wellllll.  We follow Joe through the trial, and it looks like he actually may have found his innocent client after all.  I won’t give it away, because it’s a good story.  I liked the characters, and the sequence of events made logical sense.  Read about Joe along with me!

I love to read. I'm usually reading at least 3 books at a time. They're not all good... some are really bad. I have trouble not finishing books though. Now CBR has doubled down on that trouble, because I want to get credit for reading the bad ones too! View kfishgirl's reviews»
