I really liked this book

I’m aligning this book right, because I always align left, and today I’m a rebel!

I listened to this book, which is one of my favorite ways to “read” a book.  I can read an audiobook while I’m driving, or at work, or laying in bed with my eyes closed.  It’s pretty rad.  Also, the Overdrive app allows you to adjust the speed, so I had this one playing at 1.2 speed without even realizing it.  I finished it quickly!

So I really enjoyed this book.  I liked the writing style a lot, and I actually wrote down a bunch of lines that illustrated what I liked.  They’re not exact quotes, because I was listening, but I wrote them as close to exact as I could remember while frantically typing.

• A gay black man belongs in Southern Indiana like a dildo belongs on a dinner table
• Memories are like bonfires, they only need a little oxygen to grow (This one has the added bonus of doing one of my favorite things in books – mentioning the title)
• There are people in the world who squeeze, and those who suffocate
• Do dogs go to heaven?…. No… Heaven is for redeemed sinners.  Dogs don’t need it.  They spend their entire lives in Heaven.
• Maybe I just want Optimal to be crooked, just so I have something to straighten out
• The path is just a story to tell, and all stories depend on the ending

I felt engrossed in the (normal, probably semi-boring) world created in this story.  I liked the “twist” too.  I put twist in quotes because I’m not entirely sure it’s a twist, just more of an exciting / dangerous / frenzied explanation of the heart of the mystery.  I guess I didn’t put any plot in this review, but I don’t think you need it.  Just read the book!
